America's leading digital satellite provider, DirecTV will begin broadcasts a weekly block of high-defintion adult entertainment on a pay-per-view channel following the Super Bowl between the Carolina Panthers and the New Englands Patriots on Sunday.

The films will be provided by Playboy and Spice TV. Spice TV has a planned 24-hour HD network on new HD satellite provider Voom But there is no official launch date for it.

A DirecTV spokesperson wasn't sure of the cost of the HD block but figured it would higher than the normal $9.99 block of adult fare on DirecTV because of the high-definition component. High-definition requires more bandwidth to deliver its crystal clear pictures and digital sound.

DirecTV offers a $15.99 monthly subscription to Playboy TV, but sells harder core fare in pay-per-view blocks. Many industry analysts think cable and satellite providers stand to make significant gains by offering adult entertainment in the HD format, which can be so clear that it is almost like looking out a window.

That kind of clarity and sound would heighten the enjoyment of adult entertainment for viewers, insiders believe.

But in an interview earlier this year, Playboy TV president Jim English wasn't so sure the format and adult programming were a virtual home run together.

"A lot of the girls are not that pretty. You can only do so much with hair and make-up," English said in an interview with TVPredictions.com. "HDTV is perfect for National Geographic and the National Football League where you don't expect people to be pretty. But adult films are all about the close-up. With surgeries and implants, I don't know if you want to see everything in HDTV."

This will be a first person perspective sex experience for the viewer and 50 Cent would not be the person having sex, but will be the center of attention and directing the party.

"The viewer will get the opportunity to 'have sex' with their girls backstage at the concerts and hang with them on the tour bus," Mullen said. "The viewer will be able to choose which groupies have sex and where the sex will take place because they become a part of the entourage."

Mullen worked closely with Digital Sin's President and 50 Cent's attorney, Theo Sedlmayr, in New York to complete the deal.

"We were warmly received by Mr.Sedlmayr and that put the whole deal on the fast track," Mullen told AVN.com. " 50 is a marketing person himself and understands that this is another marketing outlet for him that will open him up to a bigger audience."

The rapper, whose popularity skyrocketed with the multi-platinum album "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," on the Shady/Aftermath/Universal label is expected to be on the Sands Expo Center show floor about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Digital Sin booth.

"This will not be a typical rapper-does-a-porn video," Mullen said. "This will be an unbelievable interactive product shot on high-definition by the leading adult interactive production company in the world that will provide an intimate, up-close, lifestyle experience. 50 is the hottest artist out there and Digital Sin is the only company that can pull off this type of technology correctly and give him the product he truly deserves."
