Bobby Steele Chats with Lexi
Bobby Steele: Well,
first off let’s start of with introducing you to the fans, your name is?
Lexi: My name is Lexi
BS: So is this your
first show (ECVS)?
L: My very first event
BS: Are you enjoying
it?
L: I am enjoying the
hell out of it
BS: So which booth are
you signing for?
L: I am signing at the
IVD booth for Video Teams’ Afro-Centric
BS: Are your working
for them or are you freelancing?
L: I am freelancing at
the moment. I do a lot of work for them. I would love to under contract with a
company but I am freelancing right now.
BS: Are you finding
your time in the business hard or is it all coming to you?
L: Half and half
because with any other job you deal with logic and common sense & this has
nothing to do with either, it’s really random you deal with many different
things. It’s hard to pinpoint what is really gonna work, so sometimes it’s
rolling and sometimes there nothing, but I will say it has been an adventure.
BS: So have you met any
good friends since you have been in this business?
L: I have a lot of
people that I felt are my friends but one person is Diana DeVoe. Her and
Alexander. Great people, they have given me a lot of good advice, & are
really good friends. I have to say I haven’t really met a lot of cool people
but Chris Mann of Video Team out of all the people I have worked for, he’s one
of the nicest.
BS: Well, now we can
get some basic questions. How old are you?
L: I am 20 years old.
BS: Where are you from?
L: I am originally from
California
BS: How long have you
been in the industry?
L: I have been in for
about 6-8 months.
BS: What are your
plans?
L: Well first off I am
gonna buy a computer and start building my website. I was a computer nerd in
high school so I am gonna build it myself. I then want to take the money from
that and since I write scripts and have written features & gonzos I want to
shoot my own stuff, finance it myself and have someone distribute it. Also I
feel that black women need a voice in this industry and I would like to actually
represent them. Myself and Diana (DeVoe) want to be the PR person for them,
getting them on E and like Howard Stern. Things that we don’t get on the usual
basis. I am not separation or anything but I feel that it’s harder for us
being Black female entertainers, and even though I haven’t been in the
industry for a long time, I know there are things that I can warn a new girl
coming in about that will save them a lot of grief.
BS: Now that you have
been in for over 6 months, how do you like the fans? How do they treat you?
L: Well, this is my
first big event to even see who are my fans. I was touring in Florida so it’s
been hard to see who the fans are, but now that I am here I love it. It’s
great because I see myself as the same little book nerd and now I’m like you
want a picture with me and you want my name on something. Oh Wow, trip out!!
It’s cool it’s a good type of weird but I really appreciate it.
BS: So how long can the
fans appreciate you in front of the camera?
L: I want to transfer
over to behind the camera in about 6 months to a year, maybe longer. I am
engaged to be married so if my fiancée wants to get married tomorrow then I
would give up performing. I mean I know that what we do is work and it’s
separate from my personal life But, it’s still sex. So I anticipate about a
year.
BS: OK, last question
is there anything you want to promote?
L: Start looking for my
website I don’t have a official name yet but it might be like lexitriplex.com
or I might add a last name like lexicarrington.com but look for it or you can
find me msdianadevoe.com.
BS: Well it has been
very nice talking to you, Lexi. You are extremely beautiful and extremely
intelligent and I thank you.
L: Thank you this has
been great. Bye.
